There Is No way Deaf People Are Stupid
This is something that does get on my nerves quite a lot of the time and it is of course how deaf people are treated differently to the normal people of the world and I have seen this countless times. The worst situation that I have seen is one where I was in hospital visiting a very close friend of mine. I know for a fact this lady was not stupid because I had the chance to speak to her beforehand and she was very nice indeed. I cannot even believe to imagine how annoying it must be for the person as I was getting annoyed myself. Yes I can understand that people perhaps need to raise their voiced for the sound to get through the hearing aid but there is no need to talk to her like she is an idiot.
This is most certainly not the only ever case I have sen happening. Why do these people do it, is there really a legitimate reason behind it all?
So many people think that because someone is deaf it makes them dumb too and this is something that really bothers me, people need to be educated on the matter. It must be very hard to sit there and get treated like an idiot when you are not one.
So the main thing to remember is that unless you know for a fact that the deaf person you are talking to is also suffering from a mental condition there is no way that you should be talking to them like they are stupid.
