I’ve realized that I can improve my efficiency at the office and at home by making use of some terrific software products. Some are downloaded for free and some you must pay for. In particular I am thinking about the importance of antivirus software for my computer.
Keep in mind that when you see free virus protection software, it is supposed to be used only for your computer at home. Although the free software will protect you from the most terrible attacks, there are other threats that can be a problem. You need to pay for a full package if you want complete protection that is not available from the free versions.
The world of commerce is moving more and more towards a paperless atmosphere, and to stay current we need to be able to organize files from many different software programs. It will be more and more common that
we will convert these other documents, photographs, faxes and spreadsheets in to pdf documents.
There are a few major companies with products to deal with this requirement, Adobe being the most familiar name. If you are going to write, edit and perform other tasks, you are likely to need the Acrobat software by Adobe, although there are other choices available. If your needs are very basic, you might be able to get away with the free Adobe Reader, which is easily downloaded.
Whatever way you go on purchasing using free software, the ability to work with pdf files will be an unavoidable skill. Unless some new file type takes its place, the need for pdf file format is not going away any time soon.
