Acid Reflux a deadly condition or rumour

GERD commonly known as acid reflux is very much found in all age groups of human beings and more so in pregnant women, smokers and those individuals who sleep right after having meals.Certain signs that are indications of acid reflux are: difficulty in breathing, chest congestion, mild to severe heartburn or hoarseness are some serious signs. These classical signs and symptoms can be felt by a patient suffering from GERD right after ingestion of a fatty diet, intake of alcohol, when bending over, and when smoking.

Esophageal sphincter which is weak can cause acid reflux. In some instances, an increase in the production of gastric acids can be the cause of the disease.Inflammation is caused in some cases when the gastric acids supplied is not adequate.

Other conditions that can elicit acid reflux are hiatus hernia, zollinger-elison syndrome, hypercalcemia, scleroderma and system sclerosis as well.

A recent study done proves that drinking alcohol, tea and coffee like substances does not increase the risk of having the disease but rather aggravates the disease.One of the major reasons behind acid reflux condition is smoking. Chronic smokers who have been smoking for more than 20 years are 70% susceptible to GERD compare to those non-smokers. With each day the condition of those with acdi reflux gets more and more worse.

Researchers also found out that using excess salt are 70% at risk on developing GERD.

Acid reflux symptoms easily identified can lead to a successful treatment, and identification of symptoms are not difficult either. There are number of ways on how to treat this disease. It will also help in the treatment if the person will stop or withdraw from smoking or intake of alcohol. GERD or acid reflux can even ruin your everyday life because of the discomforts it causes.
